Why drink hot water?

For thousands of years, Ayurveda has recommended drinking hot water throughout the day, in small sips. Drinking hot water is known to have therapeutic benefits.

According to Ayurveda, good health depends on our ability to digest what we ingest, be it food, emotional or thought.

When the digestive fire or "Agni", is functioning perfectly, the elimination of "waste" occurs naturally. Agni being responsible for all the transformations of the body, its proper functioning, is essential for maintaining good health.

In fact, the digestive fire is particularly responsible for:

  • digestion and food processing
  • the body temperature
  • the immune system
  • its energy, strength and vitality.

If the absorbed norriture, emotions and thoughts are not digested completely, toxins (or Ama) accumulate in the body tissues creating imbalances that can lead to illness, disease.

Among the signs that point to an excess of Ama in the body, we can cite: a tongue covered by a whitish layer when waking up, a feeling of heaviness in the body, drowsiness after meals, constipation or diarrhea, painful joints, a sad mind, constant tiredness, colds...

To eliminate Ama, it is necessary to boost Agni in order to digest all this. First of all by having a proper diet and regular exercise.
